THE A-TEAM (MOVIE)

The movie version of the hit TV show came out in the summer of 2010 with a lot of expectations.The makers and fim pundits were confident about the success of the movie with Liam Neeson,fresh from the success of his action/thriller Taken,cast as the ccntral lead.Unfortunately,the movie didin't live up to expectations.Made at a budget of $110 million,it managed to make only a marginal profit of just $67 million.I personally loved the movie.It was a fast paced,super charged and highly entertaining action movie.


The first 15 minutes of the movie show the meeting of our 4 heroes.The movie then picks up 8 years later where the A-team are participating in the Iraq war.The team is sent ot recover missing plates for 100 dollar bills,by their commander General Morrison(Gerard Mcrainey).The team comprises of Hannibal Smith(Liam Neeson),Face(Bradley Cooper),Murdock(Sharlto Copley) and B.A(Quinton Jackson).The team retrieves the plates but as soon as they get back to the base the General is killed and the paltes are stolen.The team is accused of kiling the commanding officer as well as commiting robbery.They are court martialed and sent to prison for a crime they did not commit.6 months later a shadowy man from the CIA visits Hannibal and tells him that he knows the whereabouts of the man who framed them.They breakout of prison to clear their names.Both the police and the army are in their pursuit and so is a military intelligence officer Charissa Sossa(Jessica Biel).She was once involved with Templeton Peck.They are shocked to find that the man who betrayed them was their own commanding officer General Morrison.He faked his death.It is also learned that he got help from the same CIA man who came to see Hannibal.The CIA man only wanted to get to the General through the team because the General had developed differences with him.In the end the main culprits are caught but so are the A-Team.It is shown at the very end that the team eventually did manage to escape again in order to clea their names.

Unlike the show on which it is based the A-Team is a power packed action/thriller.While the show was downright silly,the movie is serious fun stuff with less of silliness and more of big scale action sequences(although the scene where the tank is fallingfrom the sky and our heroes are shooting at enemy planes is hilariously stupid).The presence of strong actors,Neeson in particular help the movie a great deal.Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz who starred in the original show as Face and Murdock respectively make cameo appearances at the end.The movie is a feast for action junkies.
