Without Men

The big buzz about Without Men, Argentine director Gabriela Tagliavini's film adaptation of James Canon's Tales From the Town of Widows opening in Los Angeles at the Maya Indie Film Series, seems to be about star Eva Longoria's lesbian love scene with Kate del Castillo. And if that's the kind of thing that floats your boat, you might well want to see the film; if not, there is little else to recommend it. There is a lot of sex in the film, but most of it is on the level of the dirty joke. It is neither stimulating, nor exciting. Certainly it is meant to be funny, but more often than not it is merely embarrassing.

Without Men is a comic fairy tale set in a small town "mucho mucho far away," where all the men, except the local priest, have either been killed by revolutionaries or impressed into their service. Left alone the women are forced to take over, and after a hiccup or two, it turns out they can handle the job as well if not better than their bumbling men folk. They may need the men to keep the race going, but that's about it. Longoria plays a bossy strong willed woman who becomes the mayor of the town after the men are gone, and while she does eventually get the women to work together as a cohesive community, and demonstrate that women can get along just fine without male supervision, it almost seems to happen in spite of her, rather than as a result of anything she does. If this is meant as a feminist statement, and I would suppose it is, it is feminism 'lite.' Still, it is a comedy, so what else could you expect.

Bright vivid colors in the town contrasted with the darker tones of the outer world emphasize the fairy tale quality of the film. It very much echoes the transition from black and white to color in The Wizard of Oz. Indeed the colors pop just as brightly. Oneita Parker's costumes, except for the few scenes immediately after the men are taken when all the women but one wear widow's black, burst with color as well. A bright musical score including some catchy songs adds an additional magical element to the film's mise en scene.

Rating 8/10 *A must watch

Take me home 2Night

Do you remember the 80s? Of course you do. Everyone remembers the 80s even if you didn’t live through them. It was pop-art made flesh and then made neon. There were bright colors, exuberant clothes, and if your song didn’t feature at least one synthesizer, then it wasn’t worth listening to it. We’ve been to the 80s and it’s tough to find a reason to go back. Take Me Home Tonight certainly can’t find one and it drowns its affable leads and their charming performances in a sea of nostalgia and iconography.

Matt (Topher Grace) is a recent MIT grad who is wasting away his mathematical genius at the local Suncoast Video Store. While he’s pondering his meaningless existence, his high-school crush Tori Frederking (Teresa Palmer) walks in to the store, and Matt hides the fact that he works there. He lies to Tori by telling her he works at Goldman Sachs, and she invites him to a party that night. Matt sees this as his big chance and brings along his twin sister Wendy (Anna Faris) and best friend Barry (Dan Fogler) as back-up. But both Wendy and Barry have their own drama. Wendy wants to study creative writing at Cambridge but is afraid her dim bulb boyfriend Kyle (Chris Pratt) won’t be supportive, and Barry, after being laid off from his long-time job at a car dealership, wants the college experience he never had. Matt, Wendy, and Barry head to the party looking to have a good time and end up having life-changing revelations through their night of revelry. But all of this charm is no match for the unanswerable question: Why is this movie set in the 1980s? When I interviewed Topher Grace a couple weeks ago, he said that their intent was to make a movie that wasn’t a parody and recalled the way movies like Dazed and Confused and American Graffiti simply exist in a time period rather than constantly call attention to it. It doesn’t look like director Michael Dowse got that message. Every song in the movie is an 80s hit and most of the costumes scream “Can you believe people wore that?!”. The movie revels in its aesthetic, but never justifies its existence. More than anything, the 80s setting simply provides a distraction.
With the 80s candy coating not making the movie any sweeter, the film’s other flaws begin to show. The pacing is slow and when the flick slams into the third act and has to develop the more dramatic material for Matt and Wendy, it doesn’t realize that Barry’s storyline is crucial to keeping the energy of the film alive. Furthermore, the story spreads itself so thin that Wendy’s storyline feels simplistic and underserved when compared to Matt’s coming-of-age conflict and Barry’s cocaine-fueled shenanigans.

The cast of Take Me Home Tonight do their best to keep the movie afloat in the raging seas of 80s nostalgia. The actors play well off each other, understand their characters, and have solid comic timing. But rather than let these characters breathe and emote in a movie that happens to take place in the 80s, the characters of Take Me Home Tonight are always overshadowed by the fact that they’re in an 80s movie.

my personal favourite movie, loved each and every second of it.

Contagion

CONTAGION
DON'T TALK TO ANYONE. DON'T TOUCH ANYONE.
-NO ONE IS IMMUNE TO FEAR!

Now, I have written a preview for this movie and as promised, here is the proper review for it. Being honest, I was literally restless to see this movie since the very day it released, i.e 9th September 2011. Just saw it last night (24th September, many thanks to my dear friends who got the only print for me) :D

Contagion is a 2011 American thriller movie directed by the great, Steven Soderbergh. He is the very intelligent, very famous director of some really great movies such as Out Of Sight, Traffic, Erin Brockovich, The Ocean Series (Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen), The Good German and many more. After watching this movie, I must agree he is absolutely brilliant, simply amazing. A director that actually makes movies with sense, pure raw facts and makes it just...real!

The movie has an amazing, stellar, A-list cast, Oscar winners and nominated that were just amazing in the movie. Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law and Jennifer Ehle.

Contagion is a movie about the outbreak of a new, deadly disease that kills within days and is caught by the most common of things and kills within days, basically depending on the person's immune system and the incubation period. Also highlighting how it affects the world and the society falling apart.

The greatest thing about this movie is that its so so close to reality. We see these things happen around us all the time with no realization of such at all. Like how diseases are spread!? A normal hand shake, hug, simply talking, using someone's phone, or the home land line. For instance, I am using the computer right now and when I get up, my sister will use, using the same keyboard and mouse! We go to a cafe, order a drink, say if one has a cough and uses that glass, one has finished the drink and the glass is washed but it still may have that particular germs and someone will use that glass in the cafe. Best example is in the picture below that how Beth Emhoff is 'wishing luck' in the man's dice. That is transmission.

Contagion starts with Elizabeth Emhoff coming back to her home in Minneapolis from a business trip in Hong Kong, she is feeling sick but feels its just jet-lag. Two days later, her son is also sick and Beth collapses and begins to have seizures. Her husband, Mitch rushes her to the hospital where her seizures continue and she dies suddenly. No reason is stated yet. (*Not a spoiler, her death is shown in the trailer of the movie.)

When Mitch is told about her death, he just doesn't get it, he doesn't understand what happened to her and with absolute no cause of death. He goes back home where he gets another shock that what has happened and he is emotionally destroyed. Along with Beth, many other people around the world are shown dying in the exact same manner as Beth.

Now with many deaths around the globe and no cause known, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the CDC becomes active in determining the cause. They first get hold of the virus from Beth's deceased body and begin to study it but with it, they get no where! no conclusions and not much known about the bodies in it.

The head of the CDC, Dr. Ellis Cheever is the head for the case and every nation, every country's head and official contacts him to find out what exactly is happening, with no answers he sends Dr. Erin Mears to Minneapolis to track down the main cause for Beth's death and her colleagues and everyone in contact.

Later in the movie is shown a very stressed Cheever who also pushes boundaries to get the vaccine for the disease and also get his wife saved from everything.

Dr. Erin Mears, and Epidemic Intelligence Service officer is called in by the CDC and sent to Minneapolis immediately to track down on field the main cause and also prevent in every way to spend, that also includes talking with the government officials, who are worried of what to tell the local people as still they don't know what they are fighting and no facts to present.

As she reaches her destination, there is no rest. She gets to work right ahead and after meeting the government officials, she sets off to Beth's office where she talks to her colleagues, her husband to know if she had complains of sickness or if she met on trip someone who was sick or anything, anything at all! She starts the prevention activities within 24 hours but still has many problems to face and a great great endangering obstacle. She is really really nice and wants to help in every darn possible way she can to stop the disease from spreading and get the origin of it.

The world Health Organization sends Dr. Leonore Orantes to London to find the cases of death there and from there is sent to Hong Kong where the sickness originated and how it started to spread, while she is there she finds out Beth is was the first one who had the disease. When she was to go back to Geneva to W.H.O, she is kidnapped by epidemiologist to use her as leverage to get the first vaccines for his village.

I won't tell how each of the plots end, you have to watch it for yourself and trust me, its totally worth it!!

Contagion premiered at the 68th Venice Film Festival and released publicly on 9th September 2011. On the very first week, the movie grossed $25 Million, debuting on #1, ending The Help's three week stay at number 1, by the next week, it grossed $55.5 Million worldwide. With a budget of $60 Million, its a great gross number data and is a SUPER HIT at the box-office.

The movie met wet great critical acclaim where everyone praised the director's effort and the story that was so close to reality, also applauded is the great A-list cast for each of their roles. Rotten Tomatoes, a critics movie site gave the movie an approval of a staggering 84% (Rotten Tomatoes are very harsh and usually give less marks to movies), also gave positive reviews.

The greatest thing about the movies is that it is scientifically accurate. Scientists also gave the movie a positive review complimenting the director's efforts that he made proper research and made a movie on a subject that is most likely to happen, GOD FORBID.

To me, Contagion was a great horror movie, because it really does scare you deep down you actually feel the chills. I mean, I am really scared to use anyone's glass or anything. My review for the film is 'TWO BIG THUMBS UP'. Its a very well made movie, one of the best of 2011. The director has pointed an idea, giving us a hint to be careful, hygienic. Literally. I think everyone should watch this movie and learn something from it. It speaks of deadly diseases, how society falls apart under the most dire of circumstances. The acting was outstanding. Matt, Laurence, Kate, Gwyneth, Marion were just amazing!
The movie got excellent reviews by professionals, even I have praised it, so just watch it.

-A Must Watch! Highly Recommended!

My Ratings: 9/10

Moulin Rouge!

MOULIN ROUGE!
No Laws. No Limits. One Rule. Never Fall In Love

Moulin Rouge! is a romantic jukebox, musical film directed and produced by Baz Luhrmann. Released in 2001, a major major success worldwide, a noticed musical picture. Starring the ever
beautiful and the very lovely (particularly in this movie) Nicole Kidman in her Oscar nominated role of Satine, also starring is Ewan McGregor as Christian. Rest of the cast includes Jim Broadbent, Richard Roxburgh and Kylie Minogue in a special role as the Green Fairy.

Initially, the role of Satine was given to Kate Winslet and the deal was made, but she had to opt out due to shooting conflicts for her movie Iris, also released in 2001. If Kate had done the role of Satine, first of all she would have looked ammmmmazing in the get-up, the red hair, outlandishly wonderful and grand dresses and of course, the red lipstick! But Nicole looked awesome as heck as well, loved her in the movie, she stole it. Anyways, if Kate had done the role, she would have sung all her songs herself -for she being a singer as well (won Grammy award for her single 'What if' as best spoken for children's album)
. Nevertheless its Nicole's moment and her movie so it goes to Nicole that she looked absolutely ravishing and just simply beautiful.

The movie tells the story of a young and youthful English writer who moves to Montmarte district of Paris in 1899 to become a writer in the Bohemian culture, there he meets performers who perform in the famous Moulin Rouge there and they were to finish the story for a new play called 'Spectacular Spectacular' , where Christian helps them too. The performers arrange a meeting for him to meet the star of the Moulin Rouge, Satine, the star courtesan.

Christian very much enjoys the meeting but Satine has big plans for herself. She wants to be a big, famous performer and a star and so does Harold Zilder, owner of the Moulin
Rouge. Unaware of it, Zilder is promising Satine to Duke of Monroth who is very very wealthy and firmly in love with Satine. He also promises to fund the Moulin Rouge. Satine is very excited to meet the man who is to make her a star.

The meeting for Satine and Chiristan is set and Satine is very very excited to meet the Duke. When first sent to the room by the performers, she mistakes Christian for the Duke and starts to please him, talk to him and seduce him somehow. Very eager to show her skills to the Duke and convincing him she has it 'all'. The two share a song and the mystery is short lived, Christian tells her of his identity of a writer but by that time, he has fallen in love with her, how could he not while Satine is such a charming beauty, a perfect diamond.

The two are interrupted by the Duke but Satine tells him that they were practicing lines for the new act 'Spectacular Spectacular' and by the help of Christian, Zilder and the rest of the troupe, they pitch the show to the Duke with a very spontaneous and improvised plot of how an evil maharaja attempts to woo and marry an Indian courtesan who loves a poor Sitar player.

The Duke agrees to fund the act on one condition that only he is allowed to see and meet Satine and after the act, he would take her with him (plots to himself initially). Christian and Satine continue to see each other secretly and later Satine forbids to see him. He visits her next only to convince her that she loves him too. The two continue to see each other while rehearsing for Satine's lines from which the Duke becomes greatly jealous and threatens Zilder that make it stop or he'd stop financing the show.

Zilder talks to Satine about it and arranges a dinner for her and the Duke but makes an excuse for Satine later to the Duke (*SPOILER, won't tell why he made an excuse, see for yourself).

Satine talks to Christian that how their relationship is endangering the show and they should end it, Christian writes a love song to her and puts it in the production to prove it to her.
A jealous performer of the Moulin Rouge points to the Duke that the act is originally about himself, Christian and Satine as the maharja, Sitar player and courtesan respectively. The Duke is in rage and orders to change the ending of the play as maharaja marries the courtesan. Satine is sad and agrees to spend a night with the Duke and convince him to keep the original ending as the courtesan and the Sitar player get married. She however sees Christian from a window and withdraws from her plan. The Duke tries to take her forcibly but she is saved by 2 of the performers and reunites her with Christian and recommends that they run away together.

The Duke tells Zilder that he will get Christian killed if Satine is not his. Zilder again warns Satine of the situation. Satine tells him that they can't see each other anymore as she will now be staying with the Duke and he must leave. Christian tries following her but is denied entry in the M
oulin Rouge and he falls in sudden depression.

On the night of the show, Christian sneaks in behind the stage to talk to Satine but the two are presented in the spotlight, on the stage. Zilder tells that he is the disguised Sitar player but what happens next?

Will the Duke get Satine or will Christian fight for his love on the stage for the final time?

Being a musical, the film of course had a great great soundtrack lined up that included medley from Bollywood, and ranging from Queen to Elton John to Madonna. The film also had original songs, most notable were 'What May Come' and 'Lady Marmalade' sung by Christina Aguilera, Mya, Lil' Kim and P!nk (not featured in film) but was released after the movie and was a smash hit!

The movie itself was so well made, well acted, well-everything that it was hard not to like it if not love it. On its release, the movie grossed a great number and held re-releases in U.S and Australia. Also the movie was well received by the critics, calling it a musical masterpiece, and acting for Nicole Kidaman, Ewan McGregor and Jim Broadbent greatly appreciated.

The movie was a success for the awards season where it was heavi
ly nominated, winning the Best Musical or Comedy and Best Actress for Kidman, BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor to Broadbent. Also winning the Oscars for Best Costumes and Best Art Direction. Nicole Kidman was nominated for Best Actress, the movie itself nominated for Best Picture. In short 8 Oscar nominations! -Spectacular!!

Well, the movie is a must watch! Its light, it nice, romantic, great faces to watch or just watch it for Nicole. Its just great!

My ratings: 8.5/10.

BODYGUARD

Well this is said to be the year of SALMAN KHAN starring as LOVELY SINGH along wid KAREENA KAPOOR as DIVYA RANA. This is no one out of the world movie its a normal love story, with lots of action, and very stunning action SALMAN is a superman who just punches a guy and he flies like a G 6..lol..Movie can be said a bit hilarious, some punches are good others just fine.Salman khan and Kareena kapoor are good actors and did pretty well as far as the acting is concerned. Story was just ok nothing out of the box, action was over and direction just fine.

The story basically is of a bodyguard namely SALMAN KHAN who is very sincere to his professional,he is assigned a task of securing KAREENA KAPOOR who is daughter of a big bussiness tycoon ,also it is the same person where SALMAN'S father used to serve as bodyguard and SALMAN had outmost respect for the person and was ready to do anything for him.KAREENA just for the sake of fun started calling up salman to tease him and acted as an unknown girl who has fallen in love with him and slowly and gradually herself ell in love with him, towards the end there is just a slight twist in the story and the story ended up in a happy ending.

On the whole it was just an alright film,we have seen SALMAN  doing much beter and i look forward to see him doing some good roles in the future..

I would rate it 6-10 :)

Never Backdown 2

Four college freshmen happen to have the same goal – to participate (and ultimately win) the upcoming local “beatdown” mixed martial arts tournament. They all have their own reasons, but they all come together to train under a superb martial arts champion Case Walker (Michael Jai White).

A great fighter, and a very demanding and strict coach Walker at first doesn’t want to take on any students (he happens to have problems of his own: parents dead due to Katrina hurricane, he’s just out of the prison for killing a man with bare hands in a bar fight), however determined kids stay on their track, and Walker starts to prepare them for the “showdown”.

As the story develops, one of Walker’s students slips off the common path, and turns out to be a psycho, not caring about anyone (including his former friends, and Walker as well), and would stop at nothing to win the fighting tournament. He also manages to frame Walker for the murder, and all the problems find their solutions “in the steel cage”.

Michael Jai White is not only the star of the film, he’s also a director – this seems to be his debut. And, I must say, this is a very solid debut for sure. White stars as Case Walker, and once again, proves that with him being the lead, the movie gets only better. For example, the first “Undisputed” film starred Ving Rhames and Wesley Snipes, in “Undisputed 2″, it was Michael Jai White and Scott Adkins. Everyone came to conclusion that 2nd part was better.

Same happened here – “Never Back Down 2″ is clearly better than the original. It’s pretty much everything: the fights are better, the characters are more vivid and believable, plus Michael Jai White handles the role of the mentor really good. And for all you MMA fans – there’s Todd Duffee playing one of Walker’s students, and a cameo with Big John McCarthy towards the end of the film. I should also mention Scottie Epstein, who plays Justin (the psycho) – throughout the whole film he transformed himself from a total “Kurt Cobain” wimp into a bald, raging fighter, hungry for blood. Very believable.

The film is never boring, entertaining, and what is mostly important in movies like this – it has great fights. For martial arts fans, this is a must see.

Rating 7/10

Titanic

Titanic, a movie that needs no introduction, everyone (be it a movie freak or not) knows about this movie. How great it was, in fact how great it STILL IS. One of the best told love stories ever, on the maiden, disasterous voyage of the grandest ship of the world, Titanic of the White Star Line. This movie was literally a revolution in the cinema worldwide, that broke all records, showed excellent hard work, its tear-jerking the crowds, brilliant direction which kept on pushing the boundaries of the effects back then. Yes, Titanic is all that, that a 'classic' needs to be a classic and be remembered by movie-lovers all around! Also listed as the 'most favourited movie of all time'.

Titanic is a movie venture of the much acclaimed and superb director, James Cameron who has directed movies such as Terminator, T2, Aliens and True Lies. James Cameron had the idea to do a movie about the ship in 1990's but however scrapped the project and did True Lies instead, later he did some research on the ship and wrote the script for it. He was done on the love story he wanted but what he really focussed on was the actual ship, its architecture, design, how it sank and all the most minor of details. He immediately got a production house, his long time partners 20th Century Fox and associated with Paramount Pictures for the movie and started the pre-production activities.

By 1995, he himself used the MiR-II (the one shown in the movie) to go under sea and witness the Titanic on the sea bed and how were the rooms placed (also a little help he got from White Star Line).

Being done with that, he hand picked his crew, also some of his old collaboraters and focussed fully on the project. He finally completed the script and started on the modelling, architecture and production of the sets, studios and the ship that were to be shown (he literally made like most of the ship, like the real one..WOWW)! And thats what it made the movie the most expensive of its time, approx. $200 Million. He wanted this movie to be Grand, "Its like my baby", he said.

THE CAST:

Being done with the pre-production, Cameron immediately started to get his cast, he wanted such a cast to fill his characters completely.

Leonardo DiCaprio plays Jack Dawson, a young man who wins a 3rd-Class passenger ticket in lucky hand in poker with his best pal, Fabrizio. He wanted to go to America, he was poor but lived his life to the fullest, he knew his limitations. He is an artist, a rather good one. His life changes when he encounters a young, beautiful 1st-Class female passenger and falls in love with her.

The role brought great fame to DiCaprio, boosted his career to the highest, making it a signature movie for him. Girls all over the world after the release went instantly crazy for him, starting up a 'Leo-Mania' by mid '98 which lasts long enough. The movie highlighted his career and he showed some really good acting skills, it was a shame he didn't get an Oscar nomination for this. Nevertheless, he was amazing and the role of Jack is and will be remembered and loved.

The divine beauty, the elegant and the very very lovely Kate Winslet plays the 1st-Class passenger, 17 year old, Philidelphia based Rose DeWitt Buckater. A rich, a little spoiled, irritated and not to forget to mention a very trapped and helpless girl who feels has no way out of her misery when she is forced to be married to a rich, business tycoon by her mother as they have lost all their money and her marriage would ensure their survival and they are going back to America to get married when on the ship she meets Jack Dawson and gets to know him well and fall in deep love with him, allowing herself to abondon all the riches, perks and her mother and later all the while trying to be with him and to live.

The role very fortunately went to Kate Winslet which launched her as an A-list star, brilliant actress and a divine beauty with extra-ordinary poise. When Winslet heard about the film and th role, she decided to just grab it, she used to call Cameron from London trying to get him to give her the role. "I am your Rose, why dont you understand!!" , she used to say to him. She used to write him letters from London to his office trying to persuade to giver her the role every week almost, singing 'Your Rose' at the end always. Finally after months, he got her to audition and when auditioned and screen-tested (with Leo) he loved her from that minute. Kate said, "If u dont cast me, fine but take Leo, he is awesome". When casted as Rose, the filming began and it was intense, Winslet says. She claims it to be the hardest role she has ever played but again, it was so darn well-served. During all the water scenes, Winslet had a copy of that dress with the number of 20 and boy, did she get freakin injured on the sets. Almost drowned, chipped her arms, had pneumonia, the worslt flu, blood clots on her arms and necks, twisting her feet and all sorts of awful things. She said that she thought by the time the filming would finish, the entire cast would be in an assylum. But after the release, the reception of her character was just amazing, calling it a "brilliant one''. Her potrayl of Rose was applauded and her grace, poise, style, elegance was loved much. She received nominations for Oscars, Golden Globe and all high profile awards, winning the Empire one. Her role was just AWESOME and I believe no one else than Kate would have nailed it. Job well done!

Billy Zane starred as Calendon Hockley, a rich, steel-business tycoon who is very proud of his money and loves Rose from his full heart, willing to get her anything, all the ricjes and luxuries.

Francis Fisher stars as Ruth Buckater, the mother of Rose, who is determined to get her daughter married to Cal, as her husband left them no money and for their survival gets her hooked to Cal and plays the same rich lady to the world, worried all inside as well.

Gloria Staurt plays the old Rose, who is telling her story to the crew of Keldysh, MiR-II. She tells her experience on the sinking of the ship and also her love story.

Gloria Staurt was the oldest person to be nominated for an Oscar at the age of 86, she played the role of a 101 year old and found it a very displeasing experience. Her acting was well received, becoming one of her best performances and sole Oscar nomination.

THE STORY:

1997, Keldysh expecdition goes intio the Atlantic ocean to search the half portion of Titanic lying for the Heart Of The Ocean, a very rare diamond necklace that went into the sea in 1912, the night the Titanic sank, April 14th 1912. They dont find the necklace but they do find a drawing of a woman wearing the necklace. they get it and put it on the news when a 101 year old woman claims to be the woman wearing that necklace. They fly her to their ship with her grand daughter when she starts narrating/ telling her 84 year old tale of the voyage of Titanic when she was being taken back to America to be forcefully married to a man for his money by her mother. When on the ship, she feels she has no way out, she doesnt want a miserable life for her with ni happiness, so she attempts to kill herself, when she prepares to jump from the ship, Jack Dawson comes to her rescue.

He talks her out of it. Cal is told a lie by Rose that she accidently fell and he saved her and as a token of his appreciation, he invites Jack to a 1st-Class dinner with their group and he accepts. The next day, Rose meets Jack to thank him and to explain her situation. The 2 talk for an entire day and Jack instantly likes her. The 2 then meet for dinner with the entire group, Cal and Ruth immediately tell Jack's reality to the group (sort of demoralizing him) but he still is a sport!

After the dinner, the 2 have an amazing night together when Jack takes Rose to the 3rd-Class dinner and party where the 2 are spied on by Cal's assistant. The next day, Rose is restricted from meeting Jack at all, however Jack gets a moment with her and explains his feelings to her and how he adores her and loves her. Rose takes a moment and thinks about it and risks it all and gets on with Jack, then comes one of the most famous and loved scenes of the entire cinema and the movie, The Flying Scene! It has become one of the most iconic scenes and moments of all time, in entire cinematic history (my personal fav).

Rose gets to Jack and he tells her to be quiet and takes her hand, takes her to the railing and then......

.....They Fly! :) :')

While singing 'Come Josephine in my flying machine' and the 2 kiss (BEST KISS EVER).

However, Rose asks him to draw a sketch of her, wearing the Heart Of The Ocean, that Cal gave her....as he did, the 2 head off but very unfortunately, the ship hits the ice berg. The ship hits and when water floods in, there is instant chaos with not enough boats for 2220 souls that are on board, during all that Jack is taken by the master of arms on the basis of a false robbery.

As Rose's mother and Cal reach the top to get in the boats, Rose realizes the set up and leaves them both, jeopardizing her situation of getting in a life boat, she rescues Jack but the 2 struggle, along with many many other 3rd-Class passengers on escaping the brutal death. The 2 succeed but as inly women and children are allowed on the boats, Jack is left on the ship, Rose jumps off the boat (Truly Romantic, also a great scene of the movie). Cal goes off shooting the 2, so they go in the last deck of the ship with water reaching up to them very fast, the 2 have a very narrow escape but manage to get out but by then all the boats are gone.

Jack and Rose along with hundreds of others struggle on the amssive ship with chilling water and no more boats to escape.

With absolute no escape, the 2 go to the top of the ship (the ship moves up to a vertical position, of course and I hope you have seen it).

As we know how it got split into two, and the upper part sank last, 1500 people went into the water, Jack and Rose included. Jack finds a kind of a....floating object?! I dont know, he just finds something to hold on to but its too light for the both so he lets Rose on that. And the water was freezing, so freezing that the people turned blue and had ice in their hair.
Rose feels if she will die and Jack forbids her to think so, he tells her how much he loved her, how he cherished the past 3 days and how she has to move on and live (sniff* -tear-).

Very sadly and unfortunately Jack dies, there ere 15 boats floating near by but only 1 came back, Rose sees it and keeps Jack's promise to live, she bids farewell to him and gives him to the sea, She is saved from the water along with 5 others. Out of 1500, 6 survived, 6!!

As the Old Rose finishes the story, the crew returns to the rooms, she left the impression that Cal had taken the necklace with him, but she had it, Cal had put it in the coat he gave her to wear (OOPS! Bad goes for Cal- Deserving! Hah!) Anyways, she throws the necklace into the sea, where it belongs. She returns to her room and sleeps and in her dreams reunites with Jack, on the Titanic, along with all the passengers, celebrating their love!

It was one of the greatest scenes to witness!

-The entire movie was EPIC, loved every bit, every scene, every sentence!

RESPONSE:

Prior to the release of the movie, it was considered to be a box-office disaster (specially when its the most expensive movie to be made!) So when the movie had its premiere in early October, good feedback started to come in and showed a little light of hope and when the movie releaed internationally in December 1997, the world went crazy, 100% cinema attendence was seen which is rare in Christmas weekends but it did happen and then suddenly..it was TITANIC TITANIC TITANIC everywhere! People started to get the movie's poster, which sold dramatically as if it was a duty, people started to visit the cinemas over and over to watch the 'greatest movie'. In some theatres, the movie ran for more than a year, grossing over $1 Billion worlwide, the highest grossing mvie (for 12 years till Cameron's next venture, Avatar..but for me Avatar wasnt even close to the greatness of Titanic, I mean it was nice and all but nothing like TITANIC).

Critics began calling it the best movie of the year, and it proved to be, then the movie of the decade. James Cameron and the entire team was applauded and cherished.

The picture down there became so iconic and sold thousands of posters and pictures.

Kate & Leo do look ravishing here, they always do! ^_^

Although an explicit scene, but the drawing scene, some calling it one of the highlights of the movie was greatly appreciated, Kate looked 'Au Naturel' the drawing was really made by Cameron himself. It sold recently for $16,000 in an auction, Lucky Guy!

AWARDS & OSCAR BUZZ:

Soon after its release, was the awards season and Titanic began to win it all, after sweeping the major Golden Globes and SAGs, it won awards all over the globe, from America to Japan, to Australia, literally all over!

At the Oscars, titanic was the most nominated movie ever, 14 nominations, winning 11 of the, again the highest wins of all times.

It won James Cameron 3 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director when he gave a terrific and memerable speech.

Kate Winslet was nominated for Best Actress, lost to Helen Hunt (darn her) but Kate looked G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S in the green, Alexander McQueen dress with beautuful locks and her beautiful signature red lipstick!

After winning Best Picture Oscar, producers and Winslet.

The music director who did an amazing amazing job in the movie won 2 Oscars, for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for 'My Heart Will Go On'. James Horner won BIG that night!

The song was a sensation, even today called as best romantic song and most requested on Valentine's Day. Originally, the director had no plans of adding an original song but James Horner wrote it secretly and recorded a demo with Celine Dion, after hearing it, he approved and he better have, it was sooo wonderful, it dominated the charts worlwide, where it was on #1 for 14 weeks.

The movie was amazing, the music was amazing, the acting was flawless, the direction was perfect, every minor detail was taken care of and the story stood on its own,

Titanic certainly is THE BEST!

You can watch it over and over again, seriously. If you ahvent seen it, God Forbid, then slap yourself thrice hard and get it and watch it.

Just LOVE IT!

My Ratings: 11/10.*
