THE REAL INSPIRATION BEHIND INDIANA JONES#HarrisonFord#StevenSpielberg#CharltonHeston#Incas

Indiana Jones is easily one of the most iconic Cinematic characters of all time.
It was further immortalized by Harrison Ford's brilliant potrayal of the intrepid archaeologist adventurer.
A lot of people know that Steven Spielberg and the makers of Raiders of the lost Ark drew their  inspiration from the serials of the late 30's and early 40's.
These serials were the equivalent of today's TV Shows. Before the advent of Television, these serials were shown in cinemas. Each serial used to have between 5 to 15 chapters most of the time but some were longer than that.Chapters were like TV episodes and the serials varied between Action,Adventure,Mystery,SciFi in their genre.
But very few know that probably the real inspiration behind Indiana Jones was the 1954 movie THE SECRET OF  THE INCAS,starring Charlton Heston in the lead role.It was produced by Paramount Studio, the same studio that would go on to make the Indiana Jones movies.
Incas featured Heston as an adventurer who is looking for a sacred Incan relic. The movie was shot on location in Peru.A few scenes in the movie were later replicated by Spielberg in the first 2 Indiana Jones movies.

The trailer of Panipat, starring Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon, is out and it has a major Sanjay Leela Bhansali hangover. The trailer opens by establishing the great Maratha empire and Kapoor’s Sadashivrao Bhau is handed over the Peshwa sword, making him the leader.
His arch-enemy here is Sanjay Dutt’s Ahmad Shah Abdali who is known to be a ruthless killer. The trailer also introduces Kriti Sanon as the Maratha’s dutiful wife who can swing a sword if need be.

Zeenat Aman will make a comeback with Panipat

Zeenat Aman has evidently stayed away from the limelight for a while now. The actor hasn't worked in notable films in the last decade and has focused mainly on small budgeted films. Zeenat Aman will essay the role of Sakina Begum in Panipat. Ashutosh Gowariker has stated that her role will be an extended cameo in the film.

The musical duo of Ajay-Atul have proved their superior music talent majorly in the Marathi film industry. The duo has delivered some sensational Marathi tracks like Zingaat and Lallati Bhandar. In the Hindi film industry, the two have only worked on a handful of films. Ashutosh Gowariker reportedly thought that tjhe duo will be the best fit for the film as it is based on the life of a Maratha warrior.

Panipat was a bloody military debacle for Marathas. Will patriotism-high India see the film?

Panipat, releasing 6 December, the day Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya, is about battle that Amit Shah said ‘paved way for foreigners to enter India’.

Will feature the Third Battle of Panipat

As per reports, the film will feature the Third Battle of Panipat in its climax. The battle featured over 1200 warriors originally and Ashutosh has reportedly attempted to replicate the battle. The climax will feature a magnanimous battle sequence which apparently took an entire shooting schedule of two weeks to shoot. The battle will reportedly feature a mix of practical and VFX effects in the final cut of the film.

The Third Battle of Panipat took place on 14 January 1761 at Panipat, about 97 km (60 miles) north of Delhi, between Maratha Empire and invading Afgan army of Ahmad Shah Abdali, supported by two Indian allies—the Rohillas Najib-ud-daulah, Afghans of the Doab region and Shuja-ud-Daula-the Nawab of Awadh.

Though Abdali won the battle, he also had heavy casualties on his side and sought peace with the Marathas. Abdali sent a letter to Nanasaheb Peshwa (who was moving towards Delhi, albeit at a very slow pace to join Bhau against Abdali) appealing to the Peshwa that he was not the one who attacked Bhau and was just defending himself.

The movie, whose trailer is already out, features Afghan actor from Paktika province Babrak Akbarim who plays the role of a loyal guard of Sanjay Dutt (Abdali Baba).

Not much is known about the character of Kriti Sanon-Parvati Bai. The actor, in an interview, informed that Ashutosh has layered the character of Parvati Bai very well. She further added that her role in the film was very challenging as being a North Indian, it was difficult for her to play the character of a Maharashtrian lady. She also credited Ashutosh for Panipat and thanked the director for giving her opportunity in the movie.

Abdali wrote in his letter to Peshwa on 10 February 1761:
“There is no reason to have animosity amongst us. Your son Vishwasrao and your brother Sadashivrao died in battle, was unfortunate. Bhau started the battle, so I had to fight back unwillingly. Yet I feel sorry for his death. Please continue your guardianship of Delhi as before, to that I have no opposition. Only let Punjab until Sutlaj remain with us. Reinstate Shah Alam on Delhi's throne as you did before and let there be peace and friendship between us, this is my ardent desire. Grant me that desire.

The valour displayed by the Marathas was praised by Ahmad Shah Abdali.

“The Marathas fought with the greatest valour which was beyond the capacity of other races. These dauntless blood-shedders didn't fall short in fighting and doing glorious deeds. But ultimately we won with our superior tactics and with the grace of the Divine Lord.

Sanjay Dutt 's tweet "Ahmad Shah Abdali - Death strikes where his shadow falls. #PanipatLook."

As per reports, a grand set was built to shoot major portions of the film at ND Studios. The art director of the film, Nitin Desai replicated the grandeur of the Shaniwar Wada, which is situated in Pune. Ashutosh Gowariker and Nitin Desai have previously recreated the Agra Fort in the 2008 release Jodhaa Akbar. Gowariker has stated that he was excited to recreate the magnificent structure.

Abdali never recovered from the pyrrhic victory and his losses left him weakened and unable to control his dominions leading to the rise of the Sikh Empire.

Indian journalist Awik Sign tweeted:

“People of Afghanistan have huge respect to Abdali, but people in India hate him. I don’t think history has been displayed properly. India and Afghanistan have strong relations but these kinds of movies only earn money, serving no other purpose.”

Ex-Afghan ambassador to India tells Sanjay Dutt: Hope Panipat kept Indo-Afghan ties in mind

Panipat movie on Ahmad Shah Abdali Baba’s third battle of Panipat has sparked concerns among Afghans, who view the film as an insult to the former king.

"Negative role of Ahmad Shah Abdali will not be acceptable to all Afghan."

Mohnish Bahl's first historical movie

Mohnish Bahl has been away from mainstream Hindi films. The actor had a cameo in the Salman Khan film Jai Ho. He made a comeback in the TV industry with Sanjivani this year and is all set to feature in Panipat. Mohnish Bahl will be seen essaying the role of Nana Saheb aka Balaji Baji Rao. It will be the first historic film for Mohnish Bahl.
